This is my final plea to everyone. We currently have 12 chili entries for the coming weekend. In order for the event to be successful, we will need about twice that amount. I am seeking anyone willing to enter the cook-off to please send me a commitment by tomorrow evening. I will need to make a decision tomorrow evening as to whether or not we can hold our event this year. My heart is heavy as this is an event we have held every year since the beginning of the BCMS band program. Any help you can give would be great. Please email me if you are willing to cook! Thank you to everyone that has supported the event up to this point. I greatly appreciate your dedication to our program.
We are still in need of A LOT of chili entries for this years cook-off. We currently have 9 entries. We need 25-30! Ask neighbors, friends, family members, etc. Chili entry forms can be found under the Chili Cook-Off section of the website!! Forms due MONDAY!
Hello everyone! It's that time of the year where we all get to cookin' some homemade chili! Chili Cook-Off entries will go home tomorrow!!! Our goal is for every student to turn in one entry. Seek out a neighbor, family friend, best cook in your house, or at church/sports! Let's see who has the best chili in the county!!!
Mrs. Gauldin Hi Band Families--
Due to snow days and a grade deadline, I have postponed tonight's chili cook-off meeting until next Thursday, January 19th at 6:30pm. Anyone interested in attending is welcome! See you then! Mrs. Gauldin Below are the forms to participate in next week's tree lighting. Please return Monday, November 14. Thank you. Mrs. Gauldin
The BCMS Band Program has been invited to perform for the Reidsville Tree Lighting Ceremony in downtown Reidsville on November 18.
Please save the date. More information about time and location will go home on Monday with your child. I hope everyone has had a rested summer and is as excited as I am to start our brand new school year. As we gear up for the first day of school, I wanted to send out some quick reminders for students. Please see your band section below for information regarding the first week of school! See everyone Monday! Mrs. Gauldin Beginning Band (Band I) Any one that rented instruments over the summer will receive their instruments the 1st day of school. Students may take the instruments home and leave them there for a few weeks. We will be learning some theory and mouthpiece information before playing our instruments. Students will receive a handbook the first day of school. This will have all mandatory dates regarding the band program. Please read this information carefully and return it signed the next day! I look forward to meeting all of our new band members. Advanced Band (Band II) Students returning to band should make sure that they have necessary materials for class as we will be playing the first day. Please check to be sure that you have plenty of reeds (at least 5), cork grease or valve oil, silk cleaning swab, drumsticks/mallets, and a folder for music. We will be using the Standard of Excellence Book 2 this year for our daily method book. This is different from last year. Please be sure to pick up the level two book for your child's instrument. Please see the picture below so that you know which "color" to pick up. Scales Street Music in Reidsville and Moore Music in Greensboro have a good selection right now. Please pick them up as soon as you can! I look forward to seeing everyone! I've missed you all. Band I students (8th period) will be taking their Band II Placement Test this Friday, May 27. Students will be showing scales that they have learned throughout the year as well as their performance on 8 measures in a new piece. Students will have to make a 70 or higher on this playing test to move up. Below are the pieces to be performed.
Thanks! Mrs. Gauldin Find your part within the file and practice it from the screen or you can print that page. |
